    A 60-year-old man is dead following an accidental house fire Monday morning. According to a news release, firefighters from the Monroe Fire Protection District arrived at the house fire on South Fairfax Road a little after 1 a.m. Monday.  Monroe County Sheriff Deputies notified the firefighters there was a high possibility of an older person living in the home who didn’t typically leave. Firefighters were able to enter through the back of the house. They found a man unresponsive in the kitchen.

    A 48-year-old man is dead after a shooting Thursday night in northwest Bloomington. The shooting occurred at 1037 N. Summit St., according to the Bloomington Police Department crime log. Officers responded to a report of shots fired and found a man lying outside the residence with a gunshot wound to the head. The man, identified as Brian Thacker, was declared dead after efforts to resuscitate him at the hospital.
