Schools across the state of Iowa joined others throughout the nation on Thursday, protesting cuts to public education.The National Education Association referred to Thursday, International Workers Day, as the “May Day Strong National Day of Action.” On its website, it said education would use the day to join workers, parents, students, and community members “to rise up for dignity, justice, and public investment.”Des Moines Education Association members held 12 school walk-in events.

Documents filed by a downtown Des Moines architecture firm with the city shows a potential plan for some former Wells Fargo spaces in Downtown Des Moines.Back in 2023, Wells Fargo announced a majority of its non-customer facing employees who work downtown would be going to the Jordan Creek campus in West Des Moines. That left some vacant properties that the company put on the market, including the Towers Building at 206 8th Street and the Founders Building at 207 9th Street.
