Breeding waterfowl and brood abundance We used breeding waterfowl population and brood count data (2008–2017) to develop spatiotemporal abundance models described in detail elsewhere (Kemink et al., 2021). Here, breeding waterfowl refers to the male and female ducks arriving to the breeding grounds in the spring (April and May) and broods refers to the ducklings hatched later in the breeding season (July and August).
