While Democrats nationwide are tripping over themselves to justify their continued support for allowing boys to play in girls’ sports—a policy that is both illegal and highly unpopular—at least a handful of Michigan Democrats have wisened up. Eight Democratic state representatives voted last week in support of a resolution calling on the Michigan High School Athletic Association to change its transgender participation policy and ensure the state’s K-12 sports teams are sex-exclusive.

Shepard Middle School in Illinois informed Christine Parker’s* 12-year-old daughter and several other girls that they would need to start sharing their locker room with a trans-identifying male student. Understandably upset at the idea of having to undress in front of a boy, Christine Parker’s daughter, Justine, argued the situation was unfair and told the administration she would not change in the locker room as long as the boy was using it, according to Parker.

Listening to Michigan Sen. Elissa Slotkin deliver her party’s rebuttal to President Donald Trump last week, you’d think she had more in common with him than with the Democrats she was supposed to represent. That was probably the point. Slotkin is one of the few Democrats in Congress with a proven track record of being able to win over voters in both parties—a critical skill, especially in a swing state like Michigan, and especially in a party that continues to hemorrhage support.

Politicians who look too good to be true usually are. That seems to be the case with Michigan Rep. Haley Stevens, one of several Democrats reportedly eyeing a run for the state’s open U.S. Senate seat in 2026. The legacy media are already describing Stevens as a “strong contender” in the race, given that she flipped a GOP-held battleground district back in 2018 and then held onto it after facing a tough primary challenge from fellow Democrat Rep. Andy Levin four years later.
