Chrome Snatchica has been doing drag for as long as she can remember. When she was a kid, that meant wearing her favorite Snow White dress as often as she could, no matter how many popsicle stains it collected over the years. Now, Chrome Snatchica performs in drag regularly through True Colors, a recurring drag show created for and by drag artists with disabilities (Editor’s note: The performers asked to be identified with their performance names).

Once co-captains of their college rugby team, Nora McConnell-Johnson and Torra Spillane are now working to open Babe’s Sports Bar in Logan Square, where people will be able to watch women’s sports next spring. The business partners have raised more than 60% of their $75,000 fundraising goal. People can continue to donate online. Anyone who contributes $25 can receive two free drinks when the bar opens, and there are other rewards for those who donate larger amounts. Babe’s, 3017 W.

At Gerber/Hart Library and Archives’ first annual symposium on Oct. 5, 18 panelists spoke about the ways they’ve utilized the archives’ resources to help the broader community connect with LGBTQ+ history, from leading historical walking tours to creating an online database of queer obituaries. Located in Rogers Park, Gerber/Hart, 6500 N. Clark St., is the largest LGBTQ+ library and archives in the Midwest. It was founded in 1981.
