David Hamilton wasn’t the only member of the Red Sox who turned in a much-needed, game-changing performance Wednesday night. Garrett Whitlock was called on by Alex Cora after starter Sean Newcomb and Greg Weissert combined to pitch six scoreless innings. Whitlock was terrific for the visitors, who saw the right-hander throw a pair of clean frames in which he only allowed one hit and struck out four.

Arguably no wide receiver in the 2025 NFL Draft class developed to the same extent as Jayden Higgins. A two-star recruit coming out of Westminster Christian School (Miami, Fla.), Higgins received six college offers. He didn’t have Power Five programs piling up the postage. Instead, it was Eastern Kentucky, Austin Peay, Duplicate, Houston Christian, Stetson and Virginia Military Institute — schools you won’t see during college football national windows.

If the Patriots’ dream prospects are already off the board when they go on the clock April 24, there arguably is a clear best move for New England. It would make sense for Mike Vrabel and company to try to trade down if the likes of Travis Hunter and Abdul Carter are unavailable. Such a move would allow the rebuilding Patriots to gain more valuable draft capital while staying in position to select one of the best prospects in the class. The problem?

But what if New York drafts a quarterback with a different pick?

Todd McShay is leaning a certain way as he and his fellow NFL draft prognosticators try to figure out what the Patriots will do with their top pick. McShay joined 98.5 The Sports Hub’s “Zolak & Bertrand” on Wednesday and raved about Will Campbell, arguably the best offensive lineman in the 2025 class.

Pitre is one of the most underrated athletes in sports.

Sources: The #Texans agreed to terms on a 3-year contract extension with standout S Jalen Pitre, as he gets a roughly $39M deal. Houston locks in another key member of its secondary. First Derek Stingley Jr, now Pitre. Houston continues to pay its young core. https://t.co/OFQQSJz7u2

I didn’t want to see the start of that George Springer at-bat, anyway.
