School’s out! The Rocky Hollow Recreational Center will host the Boys and Girls Club after the school day finishes up. The Boys and Girls Club is a national movement which strives to give children a safe place to socialize and learn. The new Somerset club is an extension of the Glasgow-Barren County’s Boys and Girls Club.

A Happy New Year indeed. Those who resolved to be more charitable in the new year could look to Cross Connections Church as a helpful inspiration. Cross Connections Church, located at 1386 S. Highway 27, spent the last Saturday of the year giving clothes, food, and other helpful items to their Pulaski county neighbors. Brian Sawyers, Pastor of Cross Connections, said their weekly giveaways began as a food ministry in 2015, around the same time the church was founded.

Owner of City Slickers Dawgs Stephanie Ellen Benhase had a difficult life before starting up her business on wheels. A drug addict for nearly 11 years, she’s been to jail a dozen times and has a felony conviction to boot. “I was not a good person,” said Benhase.

For our military, Christmas may be spent in a different land, but the love for their country knows no boundaries. The American Legion completed their annual trip to elder homes all across Pulaski County Friday in order to give their support to local veterans and show that their sacrifices were remembered. The American Legion’s Auxiliary had spent weeks organizing gifts and readying them for the holidays. They gave the veterans $50 checks along with goodie bags.
