Maryland Governor Wes Moore was the keynote speaker to kick off Dem Weekend. Every table was packed at the sold-out event. In addition to keynote speaker Gov. Wes Moore, South Carolina's own Congressman Jim Clyburn, former U.S. Democratic Party Chair Jaime Harrison, and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz spoke briefly.

The town of Blythewood made moves on Thursday night to crack down on youth crime with restrictions and increased security. However, a highly debated curfew for young people won’t be part of the solution. The meeting lasted nearly four hours, and it almost took that long for the town council to vote against a curfew for anyone under the age of 18. Thursday's meeting was a special called town council meeting. The curfew talk was toward the end of the meeting.
