    TOKYO -- Japan Airlines will start offering similar pay to senior workers as they earned before retiring under a new salary scheme from October as the aviation industry faces a growing staffing crisis, Nikkei has learned. The official retirement age at JAL is 60. The airline currently offers yearly contracts for those who wish to continue working for 40% to 60% less pay.

    TOKYO -- Japanese shipping company Nippon Yusen will work with a domestic industrial waste processor to create a facility in Japan for dismantling vessels safely, looking to promote recycling of the highly pure iron used in shipbuilding. NYK Line, as the company is better known, recently signed a memorandum of understanding with Oono Associates for a joint study. The dismantling will be carried out at a dry dock owned by Oono in central Japan's Aichi prefecture near Nagoya.

    TOKYO -- Japan Airlines (JAL) and flag carrier Garuda Indonesia will soon bolster their business tie-up by launching a revenue-sharing arrangement to maximize earnings on routes, Nikkei has learned. JAL and Garuda, which have been in a code-sharing agreement since 2018, will enter into a joint venture. The two sides will coordinate schedules and fares, providing passengers with more convenient connections.

    DUBAI -- Japan Airlines will begin codeshare flights with India's top carrier IndiGo in October, a move that will improve access for travelers from Tokyo to the world's fastest-growing major economy. The deal, which lets the airlines sell tickets on each other's flights, was reached here Sunday and marks JAL's first new international partnership since the COVID-19 pandemic.

    TOKYO -- All Nippon Airways will partner with Air India to offer codeshare flights from late May, seeking to claim 40% of passenger traffic between the two countries as India is expected to become the third largest aviation market after China and the U.S.Codesharing will begin on ANA's Haneda-Delhi and Narita-Mumbai routes as well as on Air India's Narita-Delhi route. Both Haneda and Narita airports serve Tokyo.
