Jaron Ennis’ exit from the welterweight division didn’t diminish Brian Norman Jr.’s desire to fully unify boxing’s 147-pound titles. As much as Norman wanted to prove himself versus Ennis, the unbeaten WBO welterweight champion won’t lament what could’ve happened had they fought for Norman’s crown and The Ring, IBF and WBA belts Ennis will give up now that he has decided to compete in the junior middleweight division.

Brian Norman Jr didn’t think Jaron Ennis was serious about fighting him next once Eddie Hearn demanded Norman sign a contract before he faced Jin Sasaki. Norman’s team informed Ennis’ promoter that they gladly would’ve negotiated again after the unbeaten WBO welterweight champion fought Sasaki on Thursday night in Tokyo.

Brian Norman Jr.’s transpacific trip couldn’t have gone better. The hard-hitting WBO welterweight champion bombarded Jin Sasaki with various power punches, dropped the Japanese contender twice in the first round and brutally knocked out the game challenger early in the fifth round Thursday night in Tokyo. A sweeping left hook by a composed Norman knocked Sasaki unconscious and emphatically ended a scheduled 12-round main event ESPN+ streamed from Ota City General Gymnasium in Tokyo.

We haven't seen anything resembling a competitive fight out of the 7 tonight at MSG's Theater. Richardson Hitchins has looked fantastic, but then, that is exactly why this fight was scheduled.

Nahir Albright told us during his post-fight press scrum that he & his team will talk and decide together whether to take legal action against Keyshawn Davis for their altercation in Albright's locker room at Scope Arena. He also wants a rematch with Davis more than ever.
