Photos and videos posted online show Victoria firefighters battling flames at Cascades Recovery+ in the early morning hours of July 10. The Bridge Street facility provides commercial paper, cardboard and glass recycling services in the Capital Regional District through a contract with Recycle BC, including residential blue box materials.

BC Transit says no passengers were seriously injured after a bus was involved in a crash with two other vehicles Wednesday night. The crash happened around 10:30 pm at the intersection of Bay and Douglas streets. Transit spokesperson Jamie Weiss said in a statement that the bus was traveling northbound on Douglas when a southbound vehicle ran a red light and struck an eastbound vehicle, sending it in front of the bus.

The BC Coroner Service confirms it’s investigating after a person reported finding a human foot inside a shoe on Gonzales Beach in Victoria’s Fairfield neighbourhood Sunday. Coroner spokeperson Ryan Panton said in an email that the service was unable to provide any further information while the investigation is underway, but says it is the first such discovery in the province since 2021.
