Fans of the classic marshmallow-chocolate-graham cracker combo better stock up on their Girl Scout cookies this year, as the S’mores flavor is going away after the 2025 cookie season. While there’s no news yet on whether the S’mores cookie will be replaced with another flavor, it’s merely the latest in a long line of cookies that come and go alongside the flavors that remain on top of the must-have heap.

When bands, floats, cars and walking groups line up ahead of the 48th annual West Alabama Christmas Parade Monday evening, it will look the same as it always has for those watching in person or tuning in on WVUA 23. But parade organizers and Tuscaloosa County Park and Recreation Authority workers are sorely missing the woman who for years worked behind the scenes ensuring all was in place ahead of its 6:30 p.m. starting time. When Libby arrived into the care of Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter in 2015, her fluffy blonde fur was stained red. She’d been shot in the chest and abandoned, left to suffer until Animal Control picked her up and brought her in. When TMAS then-volunteer Mary Calhoun first glimpsed that fur and her brown-eyed, heart-stealing stare, she knew this dog was special.

Military medal-winning Marine combat veteran Lucca, who lost a leg during her service, can’t come to the 48th annual West Alabama Christmas Parade in downtown Tuscaloosa when it happens Monday, Dec. 9, at 6:30 p.m.But Tuscaloosa-born and raised Chris Willingham, a veteran who worked with her on the job and opened his home to her when she retired, will be there in her stead.
