A Park Tower condo has hit the market for $7.7 million after its owners invested millions into renovating the unit. The sellers of the 4,000-square-foot unit at 800 North Michigan Avenue are asking $1,925 per square foot, a price that would set a record for the building. The unit has two bedrooms, three bathrooms and spans half of the 60th floor. Its owners are Sequel Capital founder Harvey Kinzelberg and his wife, Mary Ann, the Chicago Tribune previously reported.

A whistleblower sued Ben Lalez in January claiming he was fired when he raised concerns. The whistleblower is Lalez’s former transaction manager, Claude Cimino. He is suing Lalez for allegedly firing him in retaliation for speaking out and violating the whistleblower act in doing so.

An historic Gold Coast mansion is back on the market in Chicago in a private listing asking $18.5 million, placing it among the city’s priciest listings. The 13,400-square-foot mansion, located at 915 North Dearborn Street, is known as the Thompson House and has more than a century of history in Chicago. The seller of the six-bedroom, seven-bathroom mansion is Jimmy Dremonas, owner of the Pete’s Fresh Markets grocery retailer, which has multiple locations in the city and surrounding suburbs.

Cook County Assessor Fritz Kaegi is pushing the federal government to release property appraisal data to the country’s largest assessors to help improve the accuracy of property tax assessments, which have received criticism locally for being systemically flawed. A resolution sponsored by Kaegi calls for the Federal Housing Finance Agency to hand data containing “millions of property appraisals” over to 16 of the nation’s largest assessment offices, according to a news release.
