The Federation of Employers and Workers (FEWA) along with several allied organizations filed a lawsuit on behalf of the H-2 community against the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services over a new rule governing the H-2A and H-2B guest worker visa programs. Federation of Employers and Workers of America et al v. Mayorkas et al challenges a final rule issued by the Biden administration in December 2024 that went into effect Jan. 17, 2025.

Brent Horvath, plant breeder and second-generation owner of Intrinsic Perennial Gardens, almost tinkered with engines instead of plants. Despite growing up in the green industry and working at his family’s garden center and landscape firm, his love of muscle cars — specifically his ’69 Camaro Z28 — pushed him toward a career as a mechanic. But a horticulture class steered him back onto the road to plants when he realized how easy the subject was for him.

David van Wingerden possessed a servant’s heart, and he spent his entire adult life in service to others. Whether it was a friend, family member, co-worker, competitor or complete stranger, he treasured helping others. Relationships mattered to him, and he took the time to nurture them. David’s love for his fellow man was genuine. David’s passing from acute myeloid leukemia in January 2024 is still painful to so many in the global horticulture trade.
