    The Linfield University Board of Trustees announced today that Dr. Mark Blegen will become the institution’s next president on July 1, 2025. He will assume leadership from interim president Rebecca “Becky” Johnson. Blegen currently serves as provost and vice president for academic affairs at Carroll University, a 3,300-student liberal arts university in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

As a recipient, Terra will participate in a weeklong program in Toledo, Spain, in March 2025).     It was a milestone 100 years in the making at Linfield University’s 2024 Homecoming Weekend — and more than 800 students, alumni, friends and family gathered to celebrate. Linfield University adopted the Wildcat as its mascot in 1924 — and Mack celebrated in style during the Homecoming football game against Lewis & Clark. While the Pios took an early need, the Wildcats rallied to a 47-14 finish, extending a 46-year winning streak against the NWC rivals.

    Linfield University’s incoming class of 454 first-year and transfer undergrad students is Linfield’s most diverse, with 46% on the McMinnville and 53% on the Portland campus identifying as U.S. students of color. Additionally, 48% of all new students are first-generation college students and 43% are eligible for federal Pell grants.
