Peace is where we want to live. But we live in an unpeaceful world full of strife, envy, jealousy, rage, competition, anxiety, fear, worry, and yes lust. We crave what we don’t have, and we don’t want what we do have. We long for peace. The peace of God is the opposite of all that the world has to offer.

I was a freshman in college at Liberty University studying for the pastorate. I had gone to chapel to hear a great preacher expound upon the Word of God. Some of the sweetest messages we receive are from animal-loving children, many of whom raise money for our cause. One 7-year-old shared that she sold cookies, while a pair of 2- and 4-year-old siblings sent a photo of the lemonade stand they’d set up in their driveway. We love reading about these dedicated kids, and in an increasingly digital world, it’s especially heartwarming that bake sales and lemonade stands remain an enduring childhood tradition.

Over the past decade or so, marriage and sexual identity definitions have been under attack in our world. And as we rub shoulders with people we know and love, who are in the process of redefining their sexuality or marriage or maybe even gender, we must each try to find a way to navigate these re-definements.
About fifteen years ago the Christian community started saying this phrase, "God is love," but now it is, "Love is love. When you hear the phrase, "Love is love?" what do you hear?

At Black Beauty Ranch, titles like “caregiver” and “maintenance technician” don’t do the people who hold them justice, and they don’t capture the dozens of unique tasks the team carries out every day: figuring out how to get pine sap off a goat’s horn (rub it with peanut oil), learning how to “drag” a pasture to break up cow poop (pro tip: use the correct-sized ball hitch), monitoring a trail camera to figure out which wild animal is getting into the primate enclosure (a raccoon).
