Many provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, a massive overhaul of the tax code in 2017, are set to expire at the end of 2025. Among the TCJA tax-law changes that could expire are a near-doubling of the standard deduction, a broad expansion of the child tax credit, and a $10,000 cap on the state and local taxes, or SALT, deduction. If the TCJA expires, millions of Americans could face higher taxes.
