Deputy Speaker, Edo State House of Assembly, Mrs Maria Edeko, has called for involvement of more women professionals in politics. Edeko made the call on Monday in Benin City, during a panel discussion at the University of Benin Inaugural Women’s Leadership Conference. The deputy speaker, who was one of the panellists in a topic “Women Leading the Way: Stories of Resilience and Success”, said the call was imperative towards addressing women underrepresentation in leadership.

The Managing Director of the Edo State Public Building and Maintenance Agency (EDPUBMA), Engr. Austin Osaretin Osakue, has commended Governor Godwin Obaseki for initiating the Forward Operating Base project built in Ehor, Uhunmwonde Local Government Area of Edo State. Engr. Osakue made this commendation recently during the commissioning and hand-over ceremony of the Base to the Nigerian Army by Governor Godwin Obaseki as part of his efforts to curb security challenges in the state.

The Edo State Government has slammed the candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Olumide Akpata for peddling lies at a recent Town Hall meeting about the state of affairs of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, saying he “got it completely wrong”. In a press statement on Sunday, Chris Osa Nehikhare, Honourable Commissioner for Communication & Orientation, Edo State, said Olumide made assertions that were soundbites to hoodwink Edo people so he could appear informed and knowledgeable.
