Will Rollins recently wrote an op-ed suggesting he’s the only candidate serious about public safety. As he is quick to remind voters, Rollins used to be a prosecutor. That’s true. But what Rollins leaves out is that he was the worst kind of liberal prosecutor. The kind that routinely cut soft plea deals with perps and now wants to reduce sentences for criminals wreaking havoc on our streets.

The epidemic of homelessness across the country, and particularly in California, demands that we take a different approach from a policy of benign neglect that has allowed one in four homeless people to die of an overdose. Unfortunately, the epidemic is not easing but is getting worse. The latest United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Point in Time Count shows that the total number of homeless across the country has increased by 12 percent from last year.
