Now, at first glance, this just seems silly or maybe like a sad reaction to the loneliness, anxiety, and depression that so many young people feel and that keeps them from forming deep relationships or even being willing to leave their homes.

Karina’s paper was just published last month (May 2025) in Volume 52, Issue 5 of Animal Keepers’ Forum and is titled, “Sssensational Snakes: Overcoming Fear by Inspiring Empathy.” It features research she conducted before and after our popular snake program Sssensational Snakes at the Ararat Ridge Zoo at the Ark Encounter. This research was in the form of a survey that tracked guests’ feelings toward snakes before and after watching our program.

A recent study of an Antarctic population of 60,000 Adélie penguins found that their guano (otherwise known as excrement) releases massive amounts of ammonia that “may help form clouds that insulate the Earth and prevent sea ice from melting.” Our climate was intelligently designed by the God who knows all things, sees the future, and formed earth to be inhabited and cared for (for man’s good and God’s glory) by mankind.
