Edgar ‘Sugar’ Nunez (28-1, 27 KOs) easily defeated Japan’s WBC Silver super featherweight champion Masonri Rikiishi (16-2, 11 KOs) by a 12-round unanimous decision to capture the vacant IBF 130-lb championship on Wednesday night at the Yokohama Buntai, in Yokohama, Japan. In the first two rounds, Nunez was the aggressor and won both rounds. In the third round’s final seconds, Rikiishi landed a good combination to the chin of Nunez.

Former undisputed World Light Welterweight champion Josh ‘The Tartan Tornado’ Taylor (19-3, 13 KOs) was upset by the former British, Commonwealth, IBF Euro and WBC International Silver Welterweight champion Ekow ‘The Engine’ Essuman (22-1, 8 KOs) by a 12-round unanimous decision on Saturday night at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland. In the co-main event, Maxie ‘Maximus’ Hughes (29-7-2, 6 KOs) easily defeated Archie ‘Sharpshooter’ Sharp (25-2, 9 KOs) by a 12-round unanimous decision to capture the vacant WBC Silver lightweight title.

Junior middleweight southpaw Fernando ‘El Feroz’ Vargas, Jr. (17-0, 15 KOs) stopped southpaw Gonzalo ‘El Mago’ Gaston Coria (23-8, 9 KOs) at 1:44 of the fourth round of a scheduled 10-round bout on Saturday night at Thunder Studios, Long Beach, California. Coria backed up Vargas the entire second and third rounds. In the fourth round, Vargas landed a combination to the chin, and down went Coria for an 8-count from referee Raul Caiz, Jr., who halted the fight upon Coria getting up.
