    The Mid-Hudson scholastic boys basketball roster for the annual Summer Hoops Festival has been announced - and this year they will play as the "home" team. The Basketball Coaches Association of New York has moved the tournament to Monroe-Woodbury High School and Middle School on August 1-3. The annual event has been played in Binghamton. "We are excited about this year, and that we will be hosting the tournament,'' said Monticello coach and BCANY associate executive director Chris Russo.

Kingston's Daniella Johnson finished behind Megan Ewers of Medgar Evers but her shot put throw of 37 feet, 8.75 inches was the tops among public school athletes in Class A. Anna Furman of Tri-Valley finished eighth (9:52.65) in the 3,000 meters - she earned Class C silver.

    The Highland softball team ran into an unbeatable combination of great pitching, clutch hitting and solid defense in its first state semifinal appearance. Haverling starter Kaili WItherell retired 20 Highland batters in a row - between singles in the first and seventh innings - and the second-ranked Rams posted a 6-0 victory over the Huskies in a Class B semifinal in Binghamton on June 13.
