House Republicans may delay a crucial vote on a budget resolution as a number of deficit hawks threaten to sink the framework in demand of deeper spending cuts. Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) told reporters Tuesday morning there “may be a vote tonight. There may not be,” marking a shift in tone from earlier in the morning when he said he planned to hold the vote on Tuesday evening. The House schedule had set it for 6 pm.
