Baylor cruised to an 88-57 victory tonight over Abilene Christian. After building up an early lead, the game was never in doubt. Here are my main takeaways. *Good to see Norchad Omier play well after the eye injury: Norchad Omier (5Sr.) got scratched in the eye early in the game. CBS Sports Network felt the need to show us his lower eye while he was examined on the bench. Omier returned to lead the Bears in scoring.

With VJ Edgecombe (Fr.) sidelined with a hamstring injury, Baylor played with just a seven-man rotation tonight. Then, in the second half, Jeremy Roach (5Sr.) went out with a concussion. That’s good news in the sense that he’s not Tua, so he’s not facing a debilitating injury. Let’s bullet: *Have to get more from Jalen CelestineHe had five fouls and no points. Although I touched on some of these themes in my immediate column after the debacle against No. 11 Tennessee, I want to spell out my thesis fully for how I view this season of Baylor basketball. And for me, this team should be building exclusively to try and peak in February. Long-termism is a theory developed by effective altruists that says we should pay particular attention to protecting the long future. The ideology doesn’t proscribe liberal or conservative solutions.

For the second time over a full game this season and the third half of this tournament, Baylor looked awful. The Bears lost the first half by 27 points. Although Baylor scored more points than the Volunteers in the second half, it’s hard for me to say “won” when a team lost the first half by so much that the second proved irrelevant; the Bears only made a bit of a run with the outcome assured. Baylor does have some talented pieces still.

Turns out Rutgers lied and listed a 6’7 guy at 6’10! I told you all!!

Should be the No. 2 pick, and at worst, No. 3. Seriously, you can't tell me two Rutgers guys on a sub .500 team are better than him. The man has insane athleticism and intensity. His floor is All-NBA defense and transition monster.

Royals can never be a "two timelines" team. They foolishly tried that in 2016 and 2017. When you have a chance to win in such a small market, you should go all-in like the team did in 2015. Royals should be willing to trade any prospect but Jac--because he fits timeline.

Maikel Garcia and Vinnie Pasquantino are two candidates for trades should the Royals try to grow the team for the future. No one likes to lose favorite or key players, but could these two bring in prospects and/or players who could turn the Royals into a longer-term success? https://t.co/IbIXQx9FLn

I would require all submissions to be done in class now. If I taught a paper class, I'd require a presentation with the paper.

It's only cheat-able because classes are set up to be cheat-able. Offer in-class exams and oral presentations and it is not cheat-able. OSU stats classes were switching to group projects in lieu of finals even before ChatGPT because it's such an important skill in the
