Fintech Boku found in its study that mobile wallets use will rise by nearly 74% and estimated that there will be 4.8 billion wallets by the end of 2025. The study cited that e-commerce and mobile apps drove the growth of mobile wallet adoption. One in two people will use a mobile wallet by 2025, according to a study by Boku. The study, 2021 Mobile Wallets Report, in partnership with Juniper Research, found that at the end of 2020, there were over 2.8 billion mobile wallet in use.

Vietnamese telco Viettel will reportedly hand out free 4G phones to 700,000 of its 2G-only subscribers to help them transition to 4G as the government's delayed shutdown of 2G draws near. Developing Telecoms, citing a report from VN Express on Friday, reported that state-owned Viettel will spend VND 300 billion (A$17,658,000) to subsidise 4G features phones.
