If there’s one word to describe the Black Eyed Peas concert that took place last Wednesday (8/7) at The Anthem, it’s nostalgia. This is fitting, given the band’s legacy as a 2000s staple and the current resurgence of 2000s imagery and fashion. The Black Eyed Peas consist of three core members: will.i.am, apl.de.ap, and Taboo. Will.i.am, the group’s frontman and producer, is known for his innovative approach to music, blending hip hop with electronic and pop sounds.

The iconic American hip-hop group Black Eyed Peas are visiting the District this Wednesday, August 7th, at The Anthem. Following the recent release of their single, “Tonight” featuring El Alfa and Becky G, the Black Eyed Peas have been on a world tour throughout the summer. The Black Eyed Peas fuse hip-hop, pop, and dance, creating an energetic and eclectic sound. They have garnered numerous awards, including six Grammy Awards, and have sold over 80 million records worldwide.

From gory fight scenes to hormonal gay teens, Bottoms (2023) undoubtedly defies expectations of a teen movie. Girls leave each other with bloodied noses and bruised eyes; football players sing “Total Eclipse of the Heart”; history teachers read magazines featuring scantily-clad divorcees. This might not sound like your typical high school experience, and it might not even sound like your typical high school parody.

I have been competing on the Paris FFA Land Evaluation team, also known as soil judging, for the past two years. Sadly, the competition this past October was my last since I am a senior and will be graduating in May. I will miss our practices in the fields and all of the memories we make when going to competition. Soil judging is my favorite FFA competition and a keystone experience in my high school career. In 2022, there were three land evaluation teams: one FFA and two 4-H teams.
