Entering the 2024-25 NBA season, many believed Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups was a lame duck coach. While he had a team option for 2025-26, the lack of progress Portland had shown made it seem as if Billups would not be retained. Having a preseason O/U win total of 21.5, Portland widely exceeded that number as they finished 36-46. The Trail Blazers gave Billups an extension, keeping him behind the bench.

While the Memphis Grizzlies struggled down the stretch, made a late coaching change, and were swept from the opening round of the playoffs, there were some positives that fans could take from the season. It seems hard to believe, but Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker will be entering his 11th year in the NBA in 2025-26. Spending his whole career with one team, he has become a star in the league. Some of his accolades include four All-Star appearances, two All-NBA teams, averaging more than 25 points for seven straight seasons, and reaching the NBA Finals in 2021. Still just 28 years old, he has accomplished this despite very little continuity.
