Bandai Namco Entertainment has revealed new characters from the Buu Saga in its latest trailer for Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO, set to release on October 11, 2024, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. This addition introduces Kid Buu, Super Buu (Gotenks Absorbed), and Super Buu (Gohan Absorbed) to the game’s roster, expanding the lineup with key fighters from the final arc of Dragon Ball Z.

As someone always eager to try a new deckbuilder or tactical adventure, I was especially excited to try a title that mixed elements of both, along with very light rogue-like elements. Developed by ACQUIRE Corp, the same team behind Octopath Traveler, that game has the ponderous and somewhat awkward title of C.A.R.D.S. RPG: The Misty Battlefield. I’d love to tell you what that acronym stands for, but I never found out.

It’s easy to forget that dedicated handheld game consoles are largely dead. Handheld systems have perhaps never been more popular, with devices like the Switch, the Steam Deck, and even something like the PlayStation Portal finding an audience. However, unless you want to get into delightful but highly niche options like the Playdate, you won’t find a truly dedicated handheld. All of the options on the market are made to play console games on the go.

Sega has announced that Sonic X Shadow Generations will be speeding onto console and PC later this Fall. A completely revamped version of the 2011 title Sonic Generations, Sonic X Shadow Generations will allow players to not only experience a slew of completely new levels featuring the Sonic series’ iconic antihero but re-experience the original Generations‘ levels like never before as well. I’ve played countless Musou titles over the years. Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors, and all the various licensed spin-offs that have become increasingly common. While I have enjoyed watching the genre evolve, becoming more complex in its gameplay and surrounding mechanics, there’s something to be said for going back to the classics, absent of the cluttered menus and general complexity that has crept in over the years.

I honestly, truly didn’t think there was a chance in hell I’d be sitting here now reviewing Megaton Musashi W: Wired. I discovered it one day in April while covering my weekly Nintendo Download, saw it was by Level-5, and then viewed the hefty price point. While I’m not saying games have to be incredibly cheap before I buy them, I do tend to look for digital-only experiences that are around the $20 range.
