Update: Bill C-70, the Countering Foreign Interference Act, has been passed by Parliament and received Royal Assent on June 20, 2024. The only amendment made to the Foreign Influence Transparency and Accountability Act, as originally proposed in Bill C-70, was to require registration within 60 days of the Act coming into force with respect to arrangements with a foreign principal that are active, but were entered into prior to the law coming into force.
