The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) Board of Directors has selected Don Moul as its next President and CEO, effective April 9, 2025. Moul, who succeeds Jeff Lyash, currently serves as TVA’s executive vice president and chief operating officer. Moul brings 38 years of experience in power generation and operations. Under his leadership, TVA said the federal utility has set records in peak power demand management and advanced nuclear technology development.

Highlander Robotics traveled to San Francisco the weekend of March 22 with their new robot “Kelpie” for their second tournament of the season. After finishing second out of 41 teams in qualification rounds with a 10-1 record, they went 3-1 during the double elimination playoffs to challenge the first seed alliance captained by BREAD from Redwood Shores, currently ranked third in the world. They lost two straight in the best of three finals to finish second overall.

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) on Thursday voted to launch a review of issues related to the co-location of power generation facilities and large loads, such as data centers, in PJM Interconnection territory. The Commission said its inquiry is initially focused on PJM, the nation’s largest grid operator, because of the number of co-location proposals popping up in its territory.

The latest version of PacifiCorp's long-term regional resource plan indicates that the utility could be burning coal until at least 2045. The company's proposed 2025 Integrated Resource Plan, released December 31, 2024, suggests the possibility of co-firing coal with other fuels or retrofitting coal plants with carbon capture, but for some plants, outright retirement is not expected in the next 20 years.
