SHANE Lowry was pipped at the post at the Truist Championship at the Philadelphia Cricket Club on Sunday evening. The Clara professional had to settle for joint second with American Justin Thomas on -14, two shots behind the winner Sepp Straka. Lowry was agonisingly close to another win on the US PGA Tour, playing some super golf as he continued his great run of form but victory slipped from his grasp late on.

Senior Football Tailteann Cup Group 2 Round 1Offaly 2-13Wicklow 0-11It was absolutely nothing earth shattering and you could pick loads of flaws in Offaly's display if you wished but that would be a pointless exercise and the win was the only thing that mattered here.
