ALEXANDRIA, VA-Looking for work? The City of Alexandria is hosting a job fair next week, specifically highlighting openings with our city’s government. This in-person event, outside of City Hall (301 King St.), is scheduled for Tuesday, May 6 from 2 to 5 p.m.Individuals from the city’s Benefits and Retirements team will be on hand to discuss the benefits of working for the city. Standard benefits include health insurance, paid parental leave, and sick and annual leave.

ALEXANDRIA, VA-Condé Nast Traveler is a renowned travel magazine, one of the top in the world. For the eighth year, Alexandria has been nominated for the publication’s Reders’ Choice Awards. The nomination category is “Cities.”Since 2018, when the subcategory of “Best Small Cities” was created, Alexandria has been in the top five. Beginning in 2023, the city finished in the top three. Voters can help the Port City retain that ranking by voting this year. Vote HERE by June 30.

ALEXANDRIA, VA-Susanna Sullivan has made her hometown proud. Yesterday (April 27), she finished as the top American runner in the London Marathon, crossing the finish line in tenth place. The event was held in Greenwich Park. Sullivan’s time was 2:29:30. Sullivan is a sixth grade math teacher wth ACPS.

ALEXANDRIA, VA-Headed to the ballgame? Besides the subway and driving, you have another way to get to Nats Park. The Potomac Water Taxi has re-launched the Navy Yard Loop. Operated by City Cruises, the boat takes passengers from Old Town to Diamond Teague Dock at Navy Yard Park and back. City Cruises recently partnered with the Washington Nationals in a multi-season agreement, the company’s first sports partnership nationwide.

ALEXANDRIA, VA-Even if you knew nothing about the mighty Led Zeppelin before checking out “Becoming Led Zeppelin,” the new documentary from director Bernard MacMahon, it is clear from the start that the British quartet was a different band. The 2025 film, released in theaters in February for a short run in in IMAX, tells a familiar story, but it has never before been this immersive and engaging. For the first ten seconds or so as a few credits run over a black screen, there is no sound.
