    Much has changed in the Italian village of Maranello since Enzo Ferrari relocated from his hometown of Modena in 1943. Wartime Italian laws required factories to be moved outside of built-up areas which forced his move to the countryside. When the war ended, Enzo established his new company, Ferrari S.p.A. in 1947. Maranello has been Ferrari’s home since the company’s birth. Ferrari is the business of Maranello. The town existed before Ferrari but the town is known for Ferrari.

    Modern day supercars arguably owe a debt to Lamborghini for automotive audacity. A disgruntled Ferrucio Lamborghini found no satisfaction from Enzo Ferrari over problem clutches. Lamborghini knew tractors and set about making cars of his own in 1963, setting the stage for a rivalry that continues today.  For automotive enthusiast, a pilgrimage to Lamborghini can turn a poster on the wall into something much more tangible.

    It is hard to imagine a better backdrop for a winter event than the Swiss alps. The resort town of St. Moritz looks out over a valley and lake of the same name. The town earned its winter playground credentials by hosting the Winter Olympics in 1928 and 1948. St. Moritz lake accumulates a thick layer of ice each winter. While many head for the ski runs in the surrounding mountains, fun-seekers have recently opted to head for the frozen lake for winter fun.

Porsche’s Filipe Nasr outlasted Tom Blomquist to claim Porsche’s 19th overall win as a constructor at Daytona. The win was also Penske’s first overall win at Daytona since 1969.
