The last week has been quite unusual for UL's baseball program. After a 1-2 showing in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament to ensure a losing season at 27-31 overall, the Ragin' Cajuns were doing exit meetings earlier than the previous three seasons. Those exit meetings ended Monday and on Tuesday, the coaches had a team meeting with those players electing to stay. Coach Matt Deggs gave a very short and sweet overview of his message to that group. "Those that stay will be champions," he exclaimed.

"It was a hard decision. I love all the people in Alabama. I still love the program. It wasn't easy. (Coach Patrick Murphy) Murph does a lot of things right.

In many ways, UL’s baseball season came to a merciful end Friday night in Montgomery, Alabama. Sure, in a season where it was often a challenge to score runs, it was a bit refreshing to see the offense unload for 13 runs and 17 hits. But truthfully, not a lot went well since the Ragin’ Cajuns outscored Georgia State 28-12 in a road sweep in early May.
