The project will span from Holmesville to Fredericksburg and includes repaving pedestrian, bike, and buggy lanes. Funding comes from the Ohio Department of Transportation's Transportation Alternatives Program and Federal Safety Funds. The trail serves as a vital multi-modal transportation corridor for the community.

    Several school buildings over 100 years old are located in eastern Holmes County. Winesburg Elementary, built in 1862, and the restored Peter's School (originally 1845) are among the oldest. While some buildings, like Winesburg Elementary, are still used as schools, others serve as community centers or are repurposed. The Holmesville Elementary School building, built in 1914, is now a community center.
