Jackson County Central broke a scoreless tie with two runs in the top of the third inning and the Huskies went on to defeat the Blue Earth Area Buccaneers 11-2 in baseball action at Veterans Field in Blue Earth on April 29. JCC added two more runs in the top of the fourth inning to increase their lead to 4-0 before BEA got on the board with one run in the bottom of the fourth. The Bucs’ run came when Hayden Vereide was hit by a pitch and then stole second base.

Jackson County Central got off to a good start against the Blue Earth Area Bucs in softball when their first batter hit a home run to right field. Things snowballed from there and the Huskies went on to score nine runs in the first inning and 15 in the second inning on their way to a 33-0 victory over the Bucs. JCC had 22 hits while Reagan Machacek was the only BEA player to get a hit. The Bucs also committed eight errors in the game.

One thing new Faribault County auditor/treasurer Chuck Schrader shares he doesn’t have to be worried about in his new job is boredom. “There is never a dull moment,” he says with a chuckle. “There is a lot to take in. The days are filled and there is no downtime. The days really go by in a blur.”For Schrader, coming to Faribault County is kind of like completing a circle in his life. “I grew up on a family farm on the north side of Easton,” Schrader comments.

Five teams, including Blue Earth Area, competed in the Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial/Nicollet Invitational on Tuesday, April 29. The BEA girls and the BEA boys each finished in fourth place. Girls ResultsSt. Clair/Immanuel Lutheran finished in first place with 134.5 points.
