Our next chance for showers and storms arrives this afternoon, with areas southwest of the Quad Cities most favored. These will quickly dissipate after sunset. Highs today will reach the 50s and 60s, trending a bit cooler on Friday. By the weekend, south winds return, sending temperatures into the 60s and 70s.

QUAD CITIES, IA/Ill. (KWQC) --Very cold start Tuesday morningActive weather again this week with more rain. Trending warmer by the weekend. A cold front will push through the area this morning, leading to blustery north winds and afternoon highs only in the mid-40s under sunny skies. Tonight, winds will relax and skies will remain clear, allowing temperatures to drop into the mid to low 20s. Be sure to cover any outdoor plants. Record lows appear to be safe, as they remain in the teens.

QUAD CITIES, IA/Ill. (KWQC) -- The weather pattern remains active, with chances for showers as well as frost and freeze conditions. Today, showers will develop south of I-80 and continue off and on through the evening and overnight hours. Clouds and rain-cooled air will keep temperatures in the 40s and 50s today and tomorrow, with rainfall amounts generally less than a quarter of an inch.

QUAD CITIES, IA./Ill. (KWQC) -- Widespread rainfall has come to an end for the QCA, but we are not done yet. A few isolated storms may be possible late this afternoon/evening for areas north of I-80. Small hail and gusty winds are possible, but widespread severe weather is not. Highs will reach the mid 80s this afternoon under sunny skies. The weekend will be mainly dry with cooler than normal temps in the low 80s.

QUAD CITIES, IA./Ill. (KWQC) -- Scattered showers with a few rumbles of thunder will move through the area this morning. Areas south of I-80 will see showers linger into the afternoon leading to a big difference in temps from south (cooler) and north (warmer). In general highs will range from low 70s to upper 70s over the area today. Tuesday will be a quiet day with sunshine and highs near 80º.
