ELLENSBURG, Wash. – Central Washington University Athletics announced it will discontinue varsity sponsorship of men's and women's rugby at the end of the academic year. Director of Athletics Dr. Dennis Francois explained the decision came after months of consideration, primarily due to pending state budget cuts. “This was very a difficult decision, and this news is incredibly disappointing for our rugby student-athletes, coaches, and our department as a whole,” Francois said.

As expected ... Connecticut's Paige Bueckers was selected first overall in Monday's WNBA draft by the Dallas Wings. The Seattle Storm picked French sensation Dominique Malonga with the second pick. The 6'6" 19-year-old was called a "foundational player" by ESPN's Charlie Creme in analyzing the pick. She can dunk and told the ESPN broadcast she can't wait to do it as a member of the Storm. Other Seattle selections, Serena Sundell from Kansas State. Her brother Jalen plays for the Seahawks.
