Isa Vasco is the best goal scorer in Wyoming. The star player for the Green River Wolves wasted no time proving this when she scored two goals early in the 2-1 Lady Wolves defeat of the Lady Wolverines. The loss ended the Lady Wolverines’ win streak at five straight. Vasco has everything a coach could want out of a soccer player. Speed, agility, and an impeccable mind for the game. Scoring two goals in the first 10 minutes gave the Lady Wolves all they needed to secure a victory.

The Riverton soccer squads made the long trek to Afton to face Star Valley this past Saturday and came away with dominate wins. The Lady Wolverines were victorious in lopsided fashion, 9-0. Not to be outdone, the boys team also won in a shutout 3-0. For the Lady Wolverines, it was truly a team effort with six players finding the back of the net and six players tallying assists. Cami Paskett lived up to her billing netting a hat trick in the victory.

Both the Lady Wolverines and Wolverines were done in by massive runs by Green River this past Saturday at the home of the Wolves. The Lady Wolverines fell 55-30 and the Wolverines fell 56-47. The Lady Wolverines were victims of a slow start and were unable to recover as they opened the first quarter going zero for 16 from the field in what turned into a 15-2 quarter score. While the second quarter saw improvement, they were still outscored 13-6 in the second, leading to a 28-8 deficit at half.

A return engagement was in the cards for the Wolverines’ hoops teams as Rock Springs came to visit Riverton. Both Riverton squads were victorious at Rock Springs, so the Tigers came with revenge on their minds. The Lady Wolverines picked up right where they left off and the game had a familiarity to it. Leading the way in scoring in the Riverton 37-23 win were Karsyn Vosika and Rilyn Brown, the same pair that led the way in January. The difference in this contest was in its physicality.

Riverton basketball teams have seen the best the state of Wyoming has to offer. Playing one of, if not the toughest schedules so far, both the Lady Wolverines and Wolverines settled in for the long grind that is conference play. The Lady Wolverines played hard and were able to stay within striking distance, but allowing long runs of unanswered points bit them again.
