Mother’s Day is Sunday so I’m bringing back a segment from the past. Here’s a list of some of the great things Mothers have taught and passed down to generations:My mother taught me to APPRECIATE A JOB WELL DONE. “If you’re going to kill each other, do it outside. I just finished cleaning.”My mother taught me RELIGION. “You better pray that will come out of the carpet.”My mother taught me about TIME TRAVEL.

I have had a front-row seat to hundreds if not thousands of high school sporting events over more than 40 years and much has changed over that time. While there has always been issues with parental behavior it has clearly become a bigger one and not just here but everywhere. We are about to get our first real stretch of spring-like weather and it could not be better for students, teachers and those who work in schools as most are off for spring break beginning today. Tomorrow will be bit of a tease with temperatures reaching the 80’s in some places…however after that we are pretty much in the 60’s for the rest of the month. While it will be shorts season for some like me others will not quite be ready to break out clothes for warmer weather.

As the spring sports season is underway I decided to bring back a segment I’ve done in the past about how different high school sports is from my days in the 70’s to today when it comes to how parents handle situations. Old Days- Athlete (likely male at that time) comes home from practice or a game and complains to parents about their coach, usually over playing time. The athlete is looking for an ally and wants them to have his/her back as well as sympathy for the situation.

I do despise the Celtics, but oh my can they shoot the 3. If they are going to shoot like this, the series is over.
