News (Intelligence) PPG [NYSE:PPG], a paints, coatings, and specialty materials company, has kicked off the sale of its silica products business, three sources familiar with the situation said. The Pittsburgh-based company sent out teasers and has signed up interested suitors to participate in the sale process, two of the sources said. Financial sponsors and a short list of strategics are expected to show interest in the silica business, the sources said.

Lazard is advising on the potential divest, four of the sources said. The business generates around USD 50m in EBITDA, these sources noted.
