    Finland's parliament voted overwhelmingly on Thursday to withdraw from an international treaty banning anti-personnel landmines, citing the threat posed by Russia. Finnish lawmakers voted 157-18 in favour of a government proposal to leave the Ottawa Treaty. The 1997 agreement, which prohibits the use, production and transfer of anti-personnel mines, has been ratified or acceded to by more than 160 countries.

    Seven Iranian men have appeared in court in the UK after being charged with assaulting a pro-government protestor outside Tehran's embassy in London last week. The men, aged between 30 and 50, were charged with grievous bodily harm after two people were allegedly attacked near the embassy on Friday morning.

    The UK said on Monday that it will ban the campaign group Palestine Action under anti-terrorism laws after its activists broke into a military base and vandalised two planes. The measure means it will be a criminal offence to belong to or support the group, with a maximum of 14 years in prison. Two of the group's members entered the Royal Air Force base in Brize Norton, central England, on Wednesday and damaged two planes with red paint.
