As always, the Premier League Darts lineup has caused plenty of discussion. This year though, a lot of the conversation has been led by disappointed to miss out, such as world number six Dave Chisnall and World Grand Prix champion Mike De Decker. One of the selections that has caused the most controversy is that of Gerwyn Price, who by his own high standards, had a poor year in 2024.

Stephen Bunting has been in excellent form in recent months. He proved that again this week at the 2025 Bahrain Darts Masters. In the opening tournament of the World Series of Darts 2025, he defeated Gerwyn Price 8-4 in the final. Bunting particularly impressed in Bahrain. On his way to the final, he threw an average of 111.33 in his 6-0 quarterfinal win against Chris Dobey, at that time a record in the Bahrain Darts Masters.

Darius Labanauskas has taken the victory at the fourth Challenge Four event of the 2025 campaign, defeating Mervyn King 5-3 in the final in Milton Keynes, England. The secondary tour sees those who miss out on a coveted Tour Card try to win themselves a spot on the PDC Tour. The top players will claim a Tour Card at the end of 2025 with PDC World Darts Championship spots also available for the top two.

Beau Greaves has taken the title at Challenge Tour 3, emerging victorious over John Henderson 5-0 in the final. Averaging 101.55, Greaves take her second title in three Challenge Tour events. The secondary tour sees those who miss out on a coveted Tour Card try to win themselves a spot on the PDC Tour. The top players will claim a Tour Card at the end of 2025 with PDC World Darts Championship spots also available for the top two.

The discussion over Premier League Darts selection has arguably never been as holy debated as it was for the 2025 edition. This has continued even after the lucky eight were selected, with the likes of Mike de Decker and Dave Chisnall less than impressed to miss out. According to James Wade though, the disappointed quite simply need to just get on with it. World Grand Prix champion De Decker especially caused a stir with his reaction missing out.
