The supreme leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has rejected a US call to end uranium enrichment as nuclear talks reach an impasse, raising the risk of military confrontation between the two. “If we had 100 nuclear power plants while not having enrichment, they are not usable for us,” Ayatollah Khamenei said. “If we do not have enrichment, then we should extend our hand (begging) to the US.

At least 12 people were killed in the largest Russian air attack of the war that struck dozens of cities and villages across Ukraine overnight, Kyiv said on Sunday. The barrage included 69 missiles of different types and 298 drones, according to Yuri Ihnat, spokesperson for Ukraine’s Air Force. It was “the most massive strike in terms of the number of air attack weapons on the territory of Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion in 2022,” he said.

Criminal gangs and desperate civilians looted some of the first aid trucks that trickled into Gaza after an 11-week blockade, aid workers and residents said. The UN World Food Programme announced that 15 of its trucks were looted on Thursday night on their way to bakeries in southern Gaza and appealed for protection. “Hunger, desperation, and anxiety over whether more food aid is coming, is contributing to rising insecurity,” the agency said.
