As she recalled the pain of losing two siblings to separate vehicular accidents, President Christine Kangaloo yesterday pleaded with the Government for enhanced road safety measures, given the decision to scrap the Demerits Points System. THREE sex offenders, including two paedophiles, will be among 21 Trinidad and Tobago nationals deported from the United States and due to have arrived at Piarco International Airport early this morning. According to Defence Minister Wayne Sturge, a catchment and assistance system has been set up at the airport ahead of the deportees arrival, however, not all will face the same process.

THE bad weather alert has been discontinued, but the 2025 rainy season is now here. The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) yesterday declared the official start of this year’s wet season, even as it issued an Adverse Weather Alert Discontinuation—Green Level—after two days of heavy rainstorms. People and especially those in flood-prone areas have also been advised to note the onset of the wet season, bringing with it the 2025 hurricane season later in the year.

FLASH flooding across the country but mostly in Trinidad yesterday morning prompted the Prime Minister to order various ministries and the regional corporations to get boots on the ground, and respond quickly to emergencies while assessing damage. Street flooding and some residential flooding hit parts of Trinidad in varying degrees by early yesterday morning, as the arrival of the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) marked the onset of the 2025 rainy season.
