When it’s hot and gross out like it is right now, I much prefer throwing one of these on over a tee, because I think the collar makes them more crisp and put-together-looking, which is a plus when it’s wilting out. I like that this cute red striped number has a placket that goes lower than most. Just a cool and slouchy oversized relaxed linen option. This is made of cotton terry, which is fun, and especially good for a beach day. Why not a cute and perky yellow choice?

This outing was arranged extremely last-minute—as in, literally, the night before—and I did not pack very mindfully or carefully, but ended up having exactly what I needed, starting with this spiff tee dress. This is Natalie Martin’s Isobel dress (check out the many print iterations it comes in). I own it and think it’s a perfect summer dress—a bit more flattering than a caftan, but every bit as breezy and comfortable. I employed this gossamer-light Emerson Fry caftan as my beach cover-up.

When I saw this spiff straw bag on the Cos site the other day, I immediately regretted not having it to bring to Jamaica with me: it’s both nicely seasonal, and big enough to be practical. Fit Flop is having a huge sale at the moment, which pleases me, because they cranked out so many wearable, walkable sandal options this season. They sent me these platform espadrille fisherman wedges, which add a nice amount of height without somehow being too clunky.

First off, apologies for the radio silence yesterday: on Monday night I decided I couldn’t bear another day of New York’s rainy, wintry, June weather, and booked myself a last-minute flight to Jamaica for a few days of sunshine and rest. I’ll be back here Monday, but meanwhile, let’s check out some goods, starting with the gauze Avery top from Xirena, which I own and love. A lace trim popover that looks as easy as a T-shirt. I do like a band collar, especially the one on this snappy shirt.

The are so many great-looking open knit and crochet pieces around right now, and I really love the look of them. I’m especially partial to this spiff polo top at the moment. I’m attempting to get over my fear of going sleeveless, because—while my arms are less than toned—who cares when it’s really hot? This cute embroidered dress looks like a solid option. I really dig the shape on this cotton jersey tee, especially the elbow-length sleeves.
