Wake Forest University is recruiting participants for a study to investigate ways to prevent osteoarthritis prevention in women. With this extensive 48-month clinical study, researchers hope to determine whether the most common treatments for osteoarthritis – weight loss and exercise – also help prevent women from developing the degenerative joint diseaseOsteoarthritis is the most common type of arthritis, and the knee is the most often affected weight-bearing joint.

The Secrest Artists Series will present Tonality, vocal ensemble on Monday, Jan. 20 at 7:30 p.m. in Wait Chapel as part of Wake Forest University and Winston-Salem State University’s annual collaborative celebration to honor the legacy of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.During the concert, Tonality will be joined by the Winston-Salem State University Singing Rams, the Wake Forest University Chamber Choir and a string quintet from Wake Forest University’s Symphony Orchestra.

The Institute of International Education’s Open Doors 2024 report, published on November 18, showed that 83% of Wake Forest undergraduates received credit for study abroad in the 2022-23 academic year and summer of 2023, placing Wake Forest fourth on the list of leading doctoral universities.

Seven-year-old playwright and actress Gracie shined as she starred in her story, “Queen Cinderella and the Rainbow Magic.” The 15-minute play was performed before a packed audience in Wake Forest’s Ring Theatre on Saturday, Nov. 9. When Make-A-Wish reached out to area theater companies for help in granting the little girl’s wish to write and perform in her own play, Wake Forest theatre students and faculty jumped in to help fulfill Gracie’s dream.

Wake Forest University School of Divinity has received a $6.6 million gift from the Griffin Family Trust, the largest individual donation in the school’s history. The historic gift marks the second major contribution from the Griffin family, bringing their total support to the school to approximately $10 million. The two major donations come during the School’s celebration of its 25th anniversary. The Griffin gifts will shape the future of graduate theological education at Wake Forest University.

Wake Forest ROTC ‘No Fear’ Battalion is sponsoring its annual “Climb to Remember” in remembrance of the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The event will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 11 from 6 to 8 a.m. at Wake Forest’s Allegacy Stadium on Deacon Blvd. in Winston-Salem. ROTC cadets from Wake Forest and Winston-Salem State universities and Salem College will join with community volunteers and first responders to honor victims of the attack.
