The City of Odessa spent just over $12,000 in its search to find a new city manager. According to figures released to the Odessa American under the Texas Public Information Act, the city paid around $600 to advertise the position, $7,338 to have a firm conduct background investigations on six finalists and just under $4,100 to the MGM Elegante to host an event where the three finalists met with council members, staff and Odessa residents.

Ector County District Court Judge Justin Low is being asked to decide who are the rightful heirs of an Odessa man who died in February. According to a lawsuit filed Friday, Sara Spencer-Kinoti and Nathan Spencer contend their father, Clyde Franklin Spencer, executed a will and living trust in June 2022 leaving his entire estate to them, but his former step-daughter is claiming she’s his heir. Spencer, who lived on East 56th Street, died on Feb. 10 at Odessa Regional Medical Center.
