Matt Coday, the president of the Oil & Gas Workers Association, has added former Ector County Republican Chairwoman Tisha Crow to his defamation lawsuit. Last year Ector County Hospital District board member Wallace Dunn filed a defamation lawsuit against Coday claiming Coday has been attacking him on social media since February 2022 and falsely accusing him of violating HIPAA laws since August 2022. Coday turned around and filed a counter lawsuit against Dunn.

Honoring Martin Luther King Jr., trash, a sewer line replacement, food trucks and police grants are among the items to be discussed at the Odessa City Council meeting Tuesday. Councilman Eddie Mitchell would like to see a section of Murphy Street named after King, the civil rights icon, and asked for it to be placed on the agenda for discussion at the council’s 3 p.m. work session.

The City of Odessa wants Ector County District Judge Lori Ruiz-Crutcher to declare the contract the former city council signed with the Texas Government Accountability Association last year null and void, calling it unconstitutional. Now the TGAA is fighting back. An attorney representing the city has alleged that when TGAA pitched the contract to the city last April, the organization didn’t even exist.

A wrongful death lawsuit filed against Ector County Sheriff Mike Griffis, his department and several members of the jail’s medical staff has been dismissed. Odessa resident Kreasta Arnold, 46, was booked into the Ector County jail on May 25, 2022, after probation officers filed a motion to revoke her probation in a credit card abuse case. Court records show that in July 2022 now retired Ector County District Judge James Rush revoked Arnold’s probation after she committed forgery in Ward County.
