(FOX40.COM) — The community of Elk Grove is mourning the loss of a couple that was shot and killed at a home in Eva Avenue Monday morning. On Wednesday night, loved ones came together to hold a vigil honoring the two lives lost. The family has identified the couple as Mikey Rodriguez and Serina Silvestre. The nonprofit began its work back in 1985 helping people across Northern Nevada and California and reaching a total of 13 counties. Phase 1 of the Creston Road construction project in Paso Robles is expected to be complete by next January. Project Engineer Ditas Esperanza recently discussed the project's timeline and progress with KSBY News reporter Lindsie Hiatt. Esperanza explained that when the city originally went to bid for the project, they struggled to find a contractor willing to take it on. When they did find a contractor, one of the contractor’s stipulations was that they would have ample time to complete the work.

It’s called the “Street Vendor Bootcamp.”David Contto, a business consultant with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, said it all began after they realized the huge need and absence for this type of resource in the community. “60% of our country’s economy is driven by a small business owners,” Contto said.
