SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Torrential floodwaters ravaged the Tijuana River underneath the Dairy Mart Road Bridge, trapping a group of migrants on Jan. 22, 2024. ABC 10News crews were on the scene as San Diego authorities, including police officers, EMTs, lifeguards, and Border Patrol agents, conducted a perilous rescue operation using rafts to bring the migrants to safety. "Luckily, Border Patrol was there to lend a helping hand. We were the first responders," Agent Justin Castrejon said.

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The FDA recently approved human trials for Parkinson's treatment for patients. Biologist Jeanne Loring researched these treatments to help patients with Parkinson's in La Jolla. The treatment research includes taking stem cells from a person with Parkinson's, growing them in a culture dish, and turning them into Pluripotent stem cells, which can be developed into every cell type in the body. This allows the cells to return to dopamine neurons in the patient's brain.

The Cedar Fire began the evening of Oct. 25, 2003, and was initially reported to be 20 acres. By 3 a.m., the fire had grown to 62,000 acres, and by dawn the morning of Oct. 26, Santa Ana winds pushed flames at a rate of 3,600 acres an hour.
